post number two

i think theme is fairly important in what you write. it helps to focus your writing so it's not all over the place. for me, it's important because it gives me something to relate back to when i get lost in my writing. a great piece of literature dosen't have to purposely express an idea, it can just be simple. sometimes it's nice when it does though because then you take something away from what you have read, something you can learn. which is usually nice. ideas come naturally in writing, you don't really have to be focusing on getting one out it kind of just comes through what you are saying. also, the reader may get ideas from what you have written without you even having expressed and idea or wanting to, if that makes any sense. the book "it's kind of a funny story" is a good example of this... it's about a boy who wants to commit suicide so he checks himself into the hospital. that may sound depressing but the book was actually uplifting (haha), it ended happily. i realted this book to my own life and took ideas about life away from it. wether the author meant to or not, he made me happy and at the end of the book really promoted thought and love for life in me.

umm i think a theme i'd like convey in my play is love. not romantic love, just common love. like love for one another as people. i think love is one of the most, if not the most, important thing in life. i think people should give and receive it more freely. it is important to me because i think people, everyone included, she should act and function like a big happy family :]
seriously, the world as a whole would be a better environment to grow up and grow personally in.

honestly, right when i read the question my mind though about like dinosaurs invading the earth or aliens flying down from space in spacecrafts as conflicts. which probably isn't what mr. miles is going for, i;m guessing. i have no idea what a good conflict would be... if my theme is love i suppose i could make the conflict be that everyone loves everyone else except for one person who loves everyone but is loved by noyone for some reason, or the opposite. that is not a good conflict though... maybe ill think about this and report my conflict later.

my first entry

1. i think reading is important to a writer because it gives them inspiration and plants ideas. it lets you explore different ideas and styles. it's also fun and interesting if you pick the right book. reading lets you appreiciate others ideas and writing lets you make and express your own. it's like a creative cycle. reading and writing are like peanut butter and jelly, they go good together.

2. something that concerns me is judgement. i think people are more judgemental than necessary which is boguss. i know i'm judgemental but i think myself and others should be more accepting. everyone is different and the little things we do, wear, and say are what make us different from the person next to us. we should appreiciate those things and strive to be ourselfs. be happy for the little quirks you have.

3. two movies that have inspired me are juno and love actually. juno to be myself and love actually to be a better person and to spread and share love. i loved both of these movies and i think there is a lot you can take away from them. juno has huge personality and is never afraid to be herself. i know that's like the corniest line ever but its the best way to describe it. she really dosen't care what anyone thinks which i admire. i think thats something that is hard to do. love actually was full of emotion...there was lots of love going around and it makes you feel good when you watch it. i thought it was awesome and you should see it.
